Links to articles for Math 155 Written Project

As explained in the instructions, select ONE of these articles to summarize for your project.

(After clicking one of the links below, click on the "PDF Full Text" to access the article)

  1. Does caffeine intake protect from Alzheimer's disease
Guidelines: Focus on the part of the study that is discussed in the "caffeine exposure" (Table 2) subsection of the "results" section. (You may disregard the "demographics" (Table 1) and the "other risk factors" (Table 3) components of the study.)

  2. Effect of head nurse empowerment program on staff nurses' job satisfaction at two educational hospitals in Rasht, Iran.
Guidelines: Focus on the part of the study that is discussed in the final paragraph of the "results" section (Table 3). (You may disregard the analysis of demographics (Table 1) and the job satisfaction frequency table (Table 2).)

  3. A Comparison of the Effectiveness of Oral Midazolam-N2o Versus Oral Ketamine-N2o in Pediatric Patients-An in-Vivo Study.
Guidelines: Focus on the variables that are analyzed using t-tests; that is, pulse rates, oxygen saturation rates, and respiratory rates. (You may disregard the other variables, since their analysis used a "chi-square" test, which is beyond the scope of this course.)

  4. Role of mindfulness in dissociative disorders among adolescents.
Guidelines: Focus on the comparisons among pre-,mid-, and post-assessment scores. (Ignore any reference to the "Friedman test;" we didn't cover that, and you don't really need it to summarize the main results of the study.)

  5. 'I think other parents might. ...': Using a projective technique to explore parental supply of alcohol.
Guidelines: Focus on the part of the study that is discussed in the "quantitative responses" (Table 2) subsection of the "results" section. (You may disregard the "demographics" (Table 1) and the "open-ended responses" (Table 3) components of the study.)

Note: For this article, you may, if you like, write your paper focusing only on the female respondents. I'm allowing this because the analysis for male respondents and for female respondents will be very similar, and trying to include both might make it difficult to comply with the two-page limit for the article summary.
