1. Anthony wanted to complete a bachelor's degree, majoring in Political Science. He was confused when he discovered he had to complete 72 credits in order to obtain his degree. Were credits the same thing as classes? He couldn’t possibly attend 72 courses in five years! Later, Anthony was relieved to find out each course was worth three credits.
2. Sandra is applying to graduate school. She wants to obtain a Master’s degree in Literature. In order to apply, Sandra had to send a transcript, which contained an outline of her grades and academic achievements.
3. Robert enrolled in a History class with a very strict professor. The midterm, an examination given halfway through the semester, would account for half the grade. The syllabus stated that the students had to respond to an essay prompt at home and hand it in before the deadline. Robert didn’t read the syllabus and tried to cram, or memorize as many facts as he could, as if he were taking a regular examination. Unfortunately, Robert flunked the midterm.
