Presentation at the 2nd Annual Crystal Gala Awards

Hosted by the Alumni Chapter of the Career and Work Counsellor Program at George Brown College, Anne gave a keynote presentation on Resilient Counsellors in Recessionary Times: Taking Care of Yourself as You Care for Your Clients.  Anne’s talk was part of an evening event that included awards presentations to program graduates and employer supporters.  Funds were also raised for an endowment to support students in the Career and Work Counsellor Program.

“Day Job” Clinic at the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation

Anne facilitated an evening clinic workshop at the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation focused on artists’ work and well-being.  Titled “Making Your Day Job Work for You”, the session focused on helping the participants to clarify their creative needs and transferable skills in order to identify the ideal characteristics of day jobs that would support their health and their creative pursuits.  This clinic will be offered again on April 5th, 2010.  See upcoming workshops for details.

Career Workshop for Dance Students

Hosted by the Dancer Transition Resource Centre, Anne facilitated a one-hour career workshop for the grade 12 students in the Professional Ballet Program of the National Ballet School.  The students are preparing to graduate and many are auditioning for European ballet companies.  Anne had the students work through some reflection exercises to assess their strengths, expand their sense of career options, and consider how to structure their time and look after themselves during their employment search.

Speech at the OACCPP General Meeting

On November 5th, Anne spoke on the opening panel for the annual conference of the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Consultants, Psychometrists, and Psychotherapists.  The panel topic was “Strategic Practice Development” for self-employed counsellors and therapists.  Anne’s presentation focused on key skills for self-employment and offered tips for cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset and building an effective support system.

Professional Career Day

Anne was on the volunteer organizing committee for a a "Professional Career Day" hosted by the Association of Career Professionals International and HAPPEN  -- Canada's largest networking group for executives in transition.  The event, held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, attracted over 80 participants.  The program included two keynote speakers, small group roundtable sessions on job search and career change topics, one-on-one brief coaching sessions, and a panel discussion.  

Anne facilitated two roundtable discussions for participants to share tips for staying resilient during the job search.

Big on Bloor Street Festival


On a rainy day in June, Anne had a “Career Ideas” table at the Big on Bloor Street Festival along Bloor street from Christie to Lansdowne.  She invited passers-by to contribute to a sticky-note collage of dream jobs and fill out a quick quiz to stimulate career ideas.  Anne answered questions about career counselling and raffled off a free career coaching session.
