The Villa Musica Workshop Mission
In order for music learning to be successful, students should be given the
opportunity to grasp ideas and techniques in small, intimate groups, where
individual attention is paramount. It is for this reason that Villa Musica’s workshop series class sizes are so limited.
In keeping with the ethos of community music education throughout the world,
Villa Musica tries also to eliminate elitist attitudes that intimidate and
alienate students in this environment, and encourages openness and a sense of
collaboration in all that we do.
It is therefore a priority for us to highlight that auditions are not necessary
to participate in these workshops, and places are allocated on a first-come
first-served basis. However, it is important that the potential student
verifies the suitability of their chosen workshop by reading, carefully, the
course description and, when directed, prepares appropriate repertoire for
discussion and direction during the workshop sessions.
