Group Flute for Kids (ages 7-12)

Group Flute for Kids provides participants with an excellent introduction to the fundamentals of flute playing. This class is designed to introduce the basics of good embouchure (mouth shape), breath support, tone quality and music reading through the playing of simple songs and the development of effective practice methods. This class is a great opportunity for those who would like to learn flute in a group setting before making a commitment to private instruction.

 

2011-12 Semester Dates

Fall Semester (16 weeks) September 12th, 2011 – January 21st, 2012

No Class Thanksgiving week

Winter Break: December 19th 2011 – January 1st, 2012


Spring Semester (16 weeks) February 6th – June 9th, 2012

Spring Break: April 2nd – 15th, 2012

When: Saturdays 2:15 – 3:00pm
Who: Children aged 7-12 years - must have own instrument (see list below for rental/purchase options)
Number of Participants: min.6, max.10
Course Fee: $255 (16 Weeks)

 

Summer Session: June 25th, 2012 – August 18th, 2012

Cost: $130 (8 Weeks)

Rosalind Richards is a flutist with a B.A., with Honors in Performance, from UCSD and an M.A. from SDSU. Ms. Richards plays Principle Flute with the La Jolla Civic Orchestra. With over 20 years experience teaching flute, she is presently a flute teacher at Rhoades School and coach at Del Mar Hills Academy of Arts and Science. Ms. Richards has taught mixed ensembles and flute ensembles at Miracosta and Miramar Community Colleges.
