Junior String Ensemble (ages 7-12)

Class ID # 227

Weekly group instruction creates an encouraging learning environment for students by providing performance experience and peer interaction. Materials used for childrenŐs classes are Suzuki Violin Books and CDs. Parents are encouraged to observe the classes. Parental participation improves the quality of practice at home and provides support for the child. Students are required to rent or purchase an instrument prior to the first class. Classes are geared towards establishing ensemble as well as solo performing skills. The objective of classes is to promote the student's interest in music and the instrument through interactive and fun approaches as well as through rewarding experiences of achievements.

The Junior String Ensemble is designed specifically for children who have completed the Level I and Level II class (7-12 years), or have made their way through the Twinkle series (4-6 years). Ensemble participation is an integral part of a string player's education enabling students to work on repertoire as a group, intonation, dynamics and note reading. Younger students who have completed the "Twinkle" series of classes are also encouraged to join this class/ensemble.

Please check with Miss Cami before enrolling children under 7 in this class.

Instructor: Regina Brown
Regina Brown became inspired to play the violin after seeing her local middle school orchestra perform when she was 8. Since starting the following school year, she has been consistently involved in developing her passion and involvement in music. She has been a part of many classical orchestras and small ensembles, performed as both a recording and live string musician in the San Diego rock scene, and interned at local station 91X. She earned a B.A. in Music with a minor in Pre-Therapeutic Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University. She teaches music at a private school in Lemon Grove as well as violin and beginner piano to students in her own private studio. Regina is also a member of the Grossmont Symphony Orchestra, City Ballet Orchestra, the Sensational String Sisters, and the Vivace String Quartet with Villa Musica colleague Caitlin Fahey.
